Camp Tenans and Venans
April 5-7, 2019
Site opens 4/5 at 6:00 PM for camping and closes 4/7 at noon.
The year is 1351. Duke Gabriel has pitched camp on campaign and commanded that a tourney list be prepared, and that all travelers may come for the joy of tournament combat and to demonstrate their largesse.
In a private camp at Elfsea Defender, we will build 14th century immersion as much as possible. The standard we’re aiming for is the ten foot rule: from ten feet away, you should look like you stepped out of the 14th century. Please see the section Requirements for entry for a complete list of standards, and please check the Resources page for more info on 14th century armor and fashion.
You are welcome to join the camp if you have a period pavilion and have a medieval presentation: no modern furniture, no visible modern accoutrements or trappings, period dishes and cups, etc. There are no ground fires on site but there will be a fire pit ringed by rocks. Please contact Gabriel with your tent size if you’d like to join the camp so you can have space allocated for you.
During the day, all who bear an accurate 14th century presentation are welcome within camp. There will be list fields open for rattan combat and cut and thrust. Please see Armor and Combat Standards for a list of armor requirements and combat rules for both. The day will be a semi-structured pas d’armes for both fields, with a few planned challenges and an open field for combatants to issue their own challenges in the time between. The Activities page lists all planned challenges. Contact Gabriel if you wish to issue your own challenge in advance!
A panel of judges will award prizes for best heavy, C&T, and civilian presentations. Additionally, a panel of judges will each select a combatant from each field that best exemplifies one of the chivalric virtues. The overall winner on each field will be chosen by the acclaim of the combatants.
